AFREF led a group of 49 investors, labor unions, and public interest organizations in urging the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to refrain from exempting over 80 percent of public companies from important disclosures and other requirements, including: 1) executive pay disclosures including the CEO to median worker pay ratio and pay versus performance; 2) say on pay votes; and 3) auditor attestation of internal control over financial reporting (ICFR), a key requirement Congress instituted under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act to prevent accounting and auditing frauds like Enron and WorldCom.
AFREF also submitted its own letter.
