AFREF submitted comments in opposition to the FHFA’s proposed changes to the Duty to Serve Program, which oblige Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to invest in underserved mortgage markets. We urge the FHFA to withdraw this rule since it would significantly weaken the impact of Duty to Serve obligations to underserved markets. In absence of withdrawing the rule, we urge the FHFA to extend the comment period for an additional 120 days to allow a full consideration of the scope, range, and impact of the proposed rule on people and communities in underserved markets.
