If Trump succeeds in privatizing the United States Postal Service, families will pay higher prices, service will slow, and hundreds of thousands of union jobs will disappear. Some rural communities could lose delivery routes altogether, veterans and seniors could face dangerous delays in prescriptions and benefits, and small businesses would be hit with higher shipping costs they cannot afford.
Trump has already signaled he may try to bypass Congress entirely, and if he does, local governments must be ready to spring into action and be the first line of defense.
That is why we are calling on city and tribal councils, mayors, county commissions, and state legislatures to pass resolutions opposing privatization and defending USPS as a vital public service. Every proclamation passed at the local level shows broad public support for USPS and adds pressure to Congress, strengthens the nationwide fight, and makes it harder for Trump and his greedy Wall Street buddies to dismantle the Postal Service.
The more local leaders who go on record opposing privatization, the stronger our wall of resistance will be. This is how communities everywhere show that the people’s post office is not for sale.
Please click to download the proclamation below and then fill out the form below to let us know you plan to deliver it in person to your local leaders. Bring it to your city and tribal councilors. Hand it to your mayor. Share it with your state legislators. Deliver and urge them to pass the resolution standing with the people they represent who want to protect their universal service to every ZIP code at affordable prices.
