AFR Applauds the Confirmation of Rohit Chopra to the CFPB

Statement from Lisa Donner, executive director, Americans for Financial Reform:

AFR applauds the confirmation of Rohit Chopra as Director of the CFPB. He is a superb fit for this important role at a crucial time. 

We look forward to working with the new CFPB director to strengthen consumer financial protections and work towards reversing the damage caused by systemic racism, and products and systems that amplify inequality. Challenges ahead include responding to the damage of the COVID-19 pandemic, reversing harmful deregulation of the Trump years, and taking affirmative measures to build an economy that works for all people. 

We thank Acting Director Dave Uejio for his good work, and look forward to his confirmation as Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity.
