October 15, 2009 House Financial Services Committee passes Over-the-Counter Derivatives Markets Act of 2009 (HR 3795), 43-26

October 22, 2009 House Financial Services Committee passes bill to establish the Consumer Financial Protection Agency (HR 3126), 39-29

October 27, 2009 House Financial Services Committee passes Private Fund Investment Advisers Registration Act of 2009 (HR 3818), to amend the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 to require advisers of certain unregistered investment companies to register with and provide information to the Securities and Exchange Commission, 67-1.

October 28, 2009 House Financial Services Committee passes Accountability and Transparency in Rating Agencies Act (HR 3890), 49-14

November 4, 2009 House Financial Services Committee Passes Investor Protection Act, 41-28

November 10, 2009 Senate Banking Chairman Dodd introduced a discussion draft of a financial regulatory reform bill that for the most part followed the template of the U.S. Treasury legislative proposal on derivatives but greatly restricted the exemption from exchange trading for those derivatives needed by end users to hedge commercial risk.
