Senator Cantwell and Senator Murray support Elizabeth Warren to lead the CFPB, according to this article by the Seattle Pi website.
Saying its director should be “independent” and an “outsider,” Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., are backing Harvard Law bankruptcy expert Elizabeth Warren to head the new Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection.
The consumer bureau is a key component of Wall Street reform legislation recently passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama.
“I like her profile and deep understanding of the issues: I feel we need to have an outsider in that position,” Murray said in an interview with seattlepi.com.
