AFR: Elizabeth Warren Should Head CFPB

Washington, DC – Americans for Financial Reform, an unprecedented coalition of more than 250 national and state organizations who have spent the past year fighting for Financial Reform legislation, issued the following statement today on Elizabeth Warren:

Heather Booth, Director, Americans for Financial Reform: “The Financial Reform legislation that passed the Senate this week has not even been signed into law yet and the Big Banks, and their allies in Washington, are already looking weaken or kill reform. This is further reason that we need the most experienced, effective and independent person to fill the vital position of the first head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau – Elizabeth Warren.

“Warren has shown a steadfast and tireless commitment to protecting consumers throughout her distinguished career and is without question the best candidate to run the new CFPB.

“We join many others in encouraging the White House to quickly move to nominate Elizabeth Warren to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.”
