MEDIA ADVISORY ON STOP WALL STREET LOOTING ACT OF 2019

July 18, 2019

Americans for Financial Reform will host a briefing call TODAY on the details of the Stop Wall Street Looting Act of 2019.

The legislation, introduced today by Senators Elizabeth Warren, Sherrod Brown, and Tammy Baldwin, as well as Representatives Pramila Jayapal and Mark Pocan, is the first major legislation to address the widespread abuses of private equity and hedge fund executives. It would ensure private equity titans are held responsible for the damage they cause, prevent looting of target companies, protect worker wages, severance, and pensions, and improve transparency.

The call will feature legislative subject matter experts, a person affected by the industry’s abuses, and an industry veteran who supports the bill.
