AFR Recess Coalition Events

We expect to invite the media to all events unless specified.

Arkansas

• On-Air Thank you to Senators: During radio show on Tuesday, July 20^th.
• Public Education Briefing: Date TBD. Organizing as a Thank You event while educating the public on the bill.

Connecticut

• Spank for. Linda McMahon, July 15^th: Organized a protest of Senate candidate Linda McMahon at her campaign office for her opposition to financial reform.
• Sent Thank you Letters to Sens. Dodd and Lieberman.

Delaware

• Sent Thank You Letters to Sens. Carper and Kaufman.
• Putting together video on Financial Reform: Completion date TBD. Currently interviewing people with different perspectives on reform.

Illinois

• Illinois Citizen Action: Sent Thank you letters to Senators.
• Jobs Action on August 6^th: Still finalizing the details on this but will use Financial Reform as a centerpiece.
• Social Security Event: Still finalizing the details on this but will use Financial Reform as a centerpiece. Date TBD (end of August).
• Illinois Citizen Action is Pursing stand up events with Members during the recess.

Iowa

• Thank You event

Indiana

• Media Briefing with Rep. Joe Donnelly, August 5^th at 10:30am: The Congressman will highlight why the bill is a good move for Indiana. Trying to confirm other experts/Grasstops to join the Congressman.

Kansas

• Celebration Rally, July 22^nd: CCO held a celebration rally for the passage of Financial Reform. They were able to bring out many of the clergy who supported the bill. Received press coverage from Dos Mundos, however this paper only goes to print once a week so we are waiting for the article.

Maine

• Maine People’s Alliance: Thank you letters to both Sens. Snowe and Collins.
• Press Release: Sent out on July 15^th supporting passage of the bill.

Massachusetts

• MassPIRG thank you with Sen. Brown July 27^th: Meeting with Sen. Brown to drop off signatures from a Thank You petition that MassPIRG generated.
• MassPIRG is pursuing recess activities with Rep. Frank, Sen. Brown and Sen. Kerry’s offices.

New York

• Thank You event

Ohio

• Sent Thank you Letters to Sen. Brown and Rep. Kilroy.
• Sent Thank you Letters to their membership: ProgressOhio sent out an e-alert to their list highlighting their activities and strong points of the bill.

Pennsylvania

• Stand up event : Possible event during the recess with Rep. Kanjorski. Still working to confirm.
