Letters to Congress: Eleven organizations, including AFR, sent a joint letter to Congress urging opposition to H.R. 2570, the so-called Mortgage Fairness Act.

On Monday July 23, 2018, Americans for Financial Reform and ten other organizations sent a joint letter to members of the House Committee on Financial Services urging them to reject H.R. 2570, the Mortgage Fairness Act of 2017.

H.R. 2570 will make the market less fair by making it easier for lenders to steer homeowners into high-cost, abusive deals on certain mortgages. High-cost mortgage loans come with special protections, but this bill will allow lenders to evade those important safeguards and to undermine the Dodd-Frank ability to repay rules.
