Heather Booth, Director, Americans for Financial Reform: “The House of Representatives sent a strong message today to the big banks – it is no longer acceptable to gamble with our money, to take advantage of consumers for sport or to hide risky investments in the shadows. Thanks to today’s action in the House, steered by House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank, Wall Street will be held accountable for its reckless behavior. Despite all millions spent and armies of lobbyists deployed to kill this reform, Main Street has come out ahead. Americans for Financial Reform calls on the Senate to do its part and pass this important legislation immediately.”
