Attorneys General Call for Consumer Financial Protection Agency

Attorneys General Tom Miller (IA), Lisa Madigan (IL), Richard Blumenthal (CT) and Richard Cordray (OH) addressed the importance of the U.S. Senate passing legislation to create a Consumer Financial Protection Agency on a press call on February 9, 2010.

The Attorneys General discussed the need for an independent agency as an effective check on the excesses of the financial industry that had a role in creating the current economic crisis.  They also addressed the important role that state Attorneys General must play in order for the agency to be effective.
